Well, it comes from "edgy?" It means someone's being dark and provocative to the point of pretentiousness, in this context. Trying too hard? You know.

I didn't see his reaction, I didn't give him the chance. I made it my parting message, to his future self. I didn't want to risk enraging him to the point of taking out his frustrations on anyone he may encounter, because he strikes me as the sort, in this state, to have no qualms about violence.

I suppose I would need some kind of measurement to know what "trying too hard" is, but I'll take your word for it.

I will say he tried too hard to deny what he felt as his normal self. He tried to tell me it was a lie, but it was too passionate and insistent. You know how he sounds when he's certain of a fact, of course - this wasn't it at all.

In the end it will be good for him to have people like you and me and Rhys, who will love him regardless. Such bonds hold strength.
