Um, I might have punched him a little too hard. But he was strangling House, I don't think it was him, you know? House was dying, I had to get him to let go somehow.

[ Oh hey, have another pause! This time on Angel's end. It's a pretty long one.

When she finally speaks, she has that weird cold detached tone to her voice that she gets when she's completely fucking furious and ready to ruIN SOMEONE'S LIFE. ]

I understand. You did the right thing. Greg is an asshole, [NO HESITATION OR STUTTER THAT IS HOW MAD SHE IS OH MY GOD] but that doesn't mean-- ugh.

[ Her brain is whirring away a million miles a minute. As always, Angel's best ideas for preventing harm coming to others involve self-sacrifice. Erghhhhh. ]

If he wakes up as - if dad's in control when he comes round, he might try it again. If that happens, I have something pretty effective for you to threaten him with. It'll put you in some danger, but I assume you're still wearing your armour, so you should be alright. Would you be willing?

[Wearing his armour... sure... sure sure.]

[This time there's no hesitation. There wasn't even guilt for punching Rhys, just awkwardness, he did what he felt was right and he's not sorry about it.]

I know House can be a jerk. [He's assuming that's who Greg is.] But even he didn't deserve to die like that, and I know Rhys wouldn't have actually wanted to kill him. If I can stop it from happening again without hurting Rhys, I'll definitely do whatever it takes.

[ Slightly warmer now. She's still furious at Jack, obviously, but Al acknowledging that Rhys wouldn't have wanted House dead wins him a bajillion points in her book.

Which makes her slightly less apprehensive about what she's going to say. ]

You'll need to threaten to tell everyone that I killed my mom. That hits two of his buttons at once - mom, and me. If nothing else, it should shock him enough to interrupt anything awful that he's doing. He's likely to turn on you as a result, but... well, um. You've proved you can handle that already.

[It shocked him when he was first told about Rhys and Jack, but he can't blame Rhys for that. If anything, it just makes him pity what his friend has to go through on a daily basis and want to help him in any way he can.

Sometimes that means punching him hard in his face.

Silence reigns for a second as what Angel says struggles to sink in, a coldness settling over his chest.]

There was an accident when I was little. My siren abilities were unstable for a long time.

[ Which answers the unvoiced question pretty neatly. And makes it clear that it wasn't intentional, which is the only reason Angel is adding that lil factlet. ]

I know it's unpleasant, but it's the best way to re-focus him in an emergency. Either of them, really, but it's clearly a lot easier to take down the original Jack physically without any collateral damage. Still, it's... useful to keep it in mind.

[That's... horrifying. Al has a small idea of what she's going through, for the longest time he thought he had been responsible for killing their mother again after being inside the creature they created.]

When my mom died people would tell my brother and I that they were sorry, and I always thought that was weird. Why were they apologising? It's not their fault. It's not anyone's fault.
